I was driving down Melrose yesterday and noticed one of his famous rats spray painted on the side of the walls.  Ironically, the rat was painting, too.  Based on his stature as an artists, is this vandalism or valuable art?  

It’s strange how some genres of music and art are considered counter-cultural, yet, there’s an undeniably profound intelligence to them.  Go listen to Inspectah Deck’s verse on Triumph by Wu-Tang Clan and you’ll know what I mean: “I bomb atomically/ Socrates’ philosphies and hypotheses/ can’t define why droppin’ these mockeries/ lyrically perform armed robbery/flee with the lottery/possibly they spotted me/battle-scarred shoguns, explosion when my pen hits/ tremendous, ultraviolet shine blind forensics.”  If you haven’t heard of Banksy, you’re about to have that same intelligent counter-cultur Inspectah Deck type moment when you go check out his website.  Not only is he a great visual artist, he’s intelligent with a penchant for satirizing politics.  Best of all, he’s a graffitti artist so his work anonymous.  He just threw up one of his paintings in the British Museum, London, and when they found it, they immediately put it in their permanent collection.  Because he just rolls like that: fly-by-night and beware-of-big-brother.
